Greetings unto this illustrious group!
Katheryn Hebenstreitz recently distributed a missive reminding all Artisans that this year the Kingdom of Æthelmearc will host Pennsic 40! As always our King and Queen will travel to Pennsic and exchange largesse with another Kingdom. To date we do not know which Kingdom will receive our largesse basket. However you can still plan and begin to create your donations for the gift basket. Please see Katheryn's guidelines for suitable items.
"Due to luggage limitations we can't transport to heavy or bulky items, but there are lots of small things that can be made that are equally fantastic!
At Double Wars we will have a workshop where we will make items for the giftbasket together. As it looks right now we will make shoulder bags with some small kits fit for a King and a Queen!"
I would like to personally challenge members of the Group to make one item to submit to the gift basket. This is our opportunity to show that Insualae Draconis is home to some of the finest artisans in this fair Kingdom. If you intent to take up the challenge please leave a comment on this post and contact Katheryn Hebenstreitz (amadejska@gmail.com)
Namaste,
Jahanara

ID Challenge
What you can do for your Principality you ask?
I recently inquired of our Princess as to what projects she would like to see fulfilled during her time. Here are the things Her Highness is looking for help with:
It is our first year as a Principality, in order to celebrate our growth, so shall our Shire's artistic holdings grow. Each member is hereby challenged to make or facilitate the making of one of the following; a roundel for Her Highness Aeringrunnr's dress, a Principality banner for your local group, a set of kneeling cushions for your local group, or an item for the Principality coffers.
Those bold enough to accept this challenge are asked to comment here, or e-mail jahanara@thepurplelotus.org. Jahanara will keep a list of challenges accepted on the blog to ensure that efforts are efficiently utilized and not duplicated!
Happy crafting,
Jahanara
- Embroidered Roundels for a dress for Princess Aeringrunnr. Please contact Jahanara if you would like to be put on the list of Interest Group Artisans willing to participate in this project.
- Principality Banners for your Shire- Their Royal Highness are very aware that travel for themselves and their successors will limit the regalia that They can travel with, therefore They are asking that each Shire/group make a Principality banner that can be used when the Prince and Princess are sitting in State in each Shire.
- Kneeling cushions- As Duchess Alessandra Melusine reminded us, kneeling cushions also take up quite a bit of space when traveling. Any shires that do not already have a set of kneeling cushions could also provide these items for Their Royal Highness' attendance at Shire events.
- Largesse-Their Hignesses have noted that the largesse coffers are not as full with the work of our artisans as we might like. They will be giving out largesse as they travel in and out of our lands this Reign. They would very much enjoy being able to give away items that were made by our artisans, so that they might show our wealth in the realms of Arts and Sciences!

My IDFIG Challenge is almost complete!
by Jahanarabanu
I'm so excited, I have one completely finished ID Cloak! I've got the other one completely appliqued and pinned. I just have to complete the handsewing on the other one and my challenge items will be complete!
I'll be presenting them to TE Clancy and Ursula this weekend at Viceroy Tourney. I hope that everyone will take part in our first challenge. I look forward to seeing other completed challenge items.
Namste,
Jahanara

Greetings Fellow artisans!
It is my pleasure in the capacity of Person-in-charge of the ID Fibre Arts interest group, to issue a challenge under the auspices of the ID MoAS Jahanarabanu who has identified an extreme need within our glorious Crown Principality:
REGALIA
I am sure that we do not wish to seem like poor relations when compared to our Cousins of Nordmark, or Aarnimetsa or any of the other fine Baronies and Shires that make up the Kingdom of Drachenwald. If we are agreed on the point that we wish to deck our Viceregal Couple in glory, then this is a challenge to all Fibre artisans, sewing circles and A&S communities within the borders of Insulae Draconis.
Make spiffy stuff for court! Think on the works achieved by past Royal Embroiderers and seamstresses, tailors and weavers, spinners and dyers and how they wrought wonders that we gasp at today. If you see something that you think is missing, then talk to your fibre-fellows and let us know the worthy projects that you have decided to embark upon.
Already identified requirements:
- Large ID banners to suspend behind the Viceregal thrones
- A fighting tunic for the Viceroy (simple and durable as it will get bashed around alot!)
Remember, 15-year Coronation is coming up and it is taking place in our fair lands. For many guests this will be the first time they will be visiting our CP and I think we can all agree that we wish to make a good impression.
If you don't fancy regalia then make tokens for handing out to deserving people, or prizes for A&S projects. If this does not appeal, then make something ID-related for your own personal use, that shows your loyalty and pride in your CP. The possibilities are endless and the projects do not have to be of incredible complexity, nor do you have to be Laurel-level to make something of value. Do not forget, not only are you performing a service, but this is also a chance for other people to see the good work that you do and an opportunity for you to learn from and by inspired by others. Please also check the A&S class list for Coronation on the website.
Let our Viceroy & Vicereine go forth knowing that their subjects feel pride in them and that the artisans of ID are skilled and many!
Yours in Service,
Melisende Fitzwalter
